The schedule is always an important apect of any Sukkot Celebration. Along with any important aspect comes the diversity of opinions of what it should look like. We cannot put together the perfect schedule for everyone. The majority of folks that attend Sukkot In-tents Celebrations come for the worship, teaching and discussion times, as well as the cohesive building of unity within a community that takes place during the weeklong Feast. However, we respect that many people must take their only vacation time in order to observe the entire Feast. Therefore, we try to incorporate time for everything, including down-time and fun time.
We strongly encourage everyone to stay within the camp (with exception of some grocery shopping, hikes and such) for the Feast time. This is not a requirement, but a hope so that relationships are built and a real sense of community occurs. Remember, if you choose to plan vacation activities such as entertainment and amusement parks during Sukkot, you bring back to camp the worldly influences and attitudes without even realizing it. Sukkot is a time to learn to live together for eight days while we present ourselves to YHVH (God) as one new man in Messiah. It takes time to release our baggage so that we can purely present ourselves to Him as set apart people that are clean and willing to hear, worship and obey. When we allow the outside world to have a foothold through worldly entertainment, we run the risk of contaminating ourselves, our families and our community.
We encourage people to attend the teaching times, workshops and discussions. These are the times when we will learn together and sharpen each other. Additionally, we do ask for required attendance at the evening worship times. Since we will spend eternity together worshipping the Creator, we should learn how to worship together, now. As we do this, we will come to the realization of what it means to have the Kingdom of Heaven here in front of us.
The following is a sample schedule. This is not to be taken for everyday as Shabbats will be lighter days, some days will include larger blocks of activity times or family time, and some items only take place every other day. Check back for a downloadable schedule of daily events and activities.
The following PDF files contain the Sukkot Schedule and information. One is a more comprehensive, daily schedule. The other is a overview of speakers and session times.
